Mercedes Coupé

Year of construction 1963

The 220 Seb Coupé is the two-door version of the famous Mercedes Fintail with four doors. The body features previously unknown passive safety: a sturdy passenger compartment and effective crumple zones. Mercedes carried out extensive crash tests, e.g. the cars were rolled over on a ramp at 80 km/h.

Rudolf Bauberger Sr. bought the Mercedes in 1966 from the
Heberlein spinning company in Wattwil (SG), where it was used as a management vehicle. The coupé was used by the Bauberger family as a second car. With only 65,000 km and a few rust spots restored with white paint, the classic car is in absolutely top original condition. The few signs of use show that the vehicle was carefully handled for more than 50 years and give the Mercedes a certain patina.

Berliet race car

Year of construction 1908

Throughout his life Rudolf Bauberger was fascinated by the first racing cars driven by Louis Chevrolet . His worldwide search would take over 30 years before the family came into possession of an original race car in 2017: a Berliet. Vehicles older than 100 years are considered cultural assets and, actually, are not allowed to leave the country.

After lengthy negotiations with the French government and the customs authorities, the Berliet was imported into Switzerland in the spring of 2018. After the
Brass Era car was restored, it was able to be presented in the spring of 2018 and was given the number LU 621. Such classic cars can only be seen in museums these days, they are rarely roadworthy. It is impossible to ignore this historic vehicle with the sound it makes and the way it looks: the wheels are 1m high, and the car is 5m long and 1.7m wide.

Porsche Speedster

Year of construction 1971

The plastic body, meticulously handcrafted from a single piece, was mounted on a VW Beetle chassis from 1971. So this vehicle is a replica of the legendary Porsche 356 Speedster. Except for experts, this is impossible to see in terms of the appearance and, technically, our replica is identical to the original anyway: the real Porsche 356 also had VW engines installed

Willys Jeep

Year of construction 1945

The Willys CJ2A is a so-called civilian Jeep and was mainly used in agriculture, as a towing vehicle and for ploughing. This Willys CJ2A used to have a fixed cab, was golden and was owned by Bauer Meier Sr. from Wiesendangen, where Rudolf Bauberger often saw him driving around in his childhood.

The Bauberger family bought the vehicle in 1985. Actually Rudolf Bauberger wanted to repair the car himself, but it proved to be time-consuming work. In 1996, his friend the Rieter mechanic Willy Stähli finished the restoration. Since then, the Jeep has been driven on the country roads of Central Switzerland to the great delight of the family.

Ford Jeep

Year of construction 1943

Ford built the GPW Jeep as a license-built vehicle alongside the Willys MB. This vehicle came to Germany with the Americans during World War II. The Swiss army had bought this vehicle after the end of the war. In 1987 Rudolf Bauberger Sr. bought the former military vehicle and used it until 1997 as a summer vehicle with a trailer. Now the Jeep is owned by grandson Moritz Bauberger.

Saurer truck

Year of construction 1957

The Saurer truck was originally owned by the psychiatric clinic in Rheinau: it was used to transport potatoes and apples in summer and coal in winter. In the 1990s, Rudolf Bauberger Sr. found the vehicle in an excellent condition at the transport company Fehr in Basadingen and bought it.

The Bauberger company then had the truck restored and resprayed in the company colours in 1999 to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary. Afterwards it was used occasionally for private trips and classic car meetings. The Saurer has been privately owned by the Bauberger-Kellenberger family since 2017. The tipper was given a grey cab colour and a fast rear axle: the top speed is now 80 km/h – so the powerful Saurer is also suitable for motorways.

About me

A deep hum, followed by rattling and shaking – then the eight tons start to move. I remember as if it had been yesterday, I was 9 years old when I took my first trip in the first company truck together with my father.

My passion for machines and cars has never left me. Today I have turned my hobby into my profession and offer nostalgic journeys through Central Switzerland. With original vehicles from the last millennium. The sound of a 4-stroke petrol engine, the flapping of a Porsche door, the high-class two-tone cognac leather from Mercedes – these are things that make my heart beat faster. I am happy to share my passion with you. Because a joy that’s shared is a joy made double.

Highlights

Our Berliet on television

Designed as a race car in the year 1908, today our Berliet needs a lot of care and attention to keep it fit to drive. In this version it is unique worldwide.

In the SAT1 film, restorer Edi Schorno shows how he gets the Berliet, “culture on four wheels”, driving again. Oldie Chauffeur driver Ruedi tells of the unique feeling when driving the “cradle of motor sport” as the Berliet from 1908 is also called.

Beautiful wedding

«The trip in Ruedi’s classic car was a very special experience. We were taken back in time and could also enjoy the weather and the landscape to the full. The Mercedes looked great for our wedding - there were fantastic photos. The fact that we were able to stand up and wave through the open roof also made it a special experience. This trip will always remain among our fondest memories.»

6. Warranty

The classic car season normally runs from mid-May until the end of September. Depending on the weather, it may happen that planned journeys cannot be carried out. We care for our passengers and our historic vehicles. Therefore, as a general rule, we do not drive if there is still de-icing salt on the roads. We avoid motorways and if possible also highways - there we drive often enough with our own vehicle.

Breakdown
Our historic vehicles are optimally serviced by our external team of mechanics. Nevertheless it may occur that a vehicle breaks down and cannot continue driving. Ideally, the driver will be able to repair the vehicle himself on site. If not, our classic car will be towed using our support vehicle and/or racing car transporter and we will take you back to the starting point. As a result of the termination, the booked journey shall be deemed as not having been carried out. The Client shall be entitled to a repetition of the journey. Date based on prior agreement, ideally at the agreed alternative date. Any further warranty and liability for consequential damages shall be excluded.

Cancellation
Depending on the weather conditions and vehicle, journeys may be cancelled by the Contractor up to 2 hours before the start. The already paid amount will not be refunded. The Client shall be entitled to a repetition of the journey. Date based on prior agreement, ideally at the agreed alternative date.

If the Client cancels a trip, the already paid amount will not be refunded. The Client shall be entitled to have a new date arranged based on prior agreement, ideally at the agreed alternative date.

7. Miscellaneous

The lead time for planning and carefully preparing the provision of our service is a minimum of 4 weeks. Exceptions only following written agreement. In principle, only one of our vehicles is available per event or journey because Oldie-Chauffeur driver Ruedi can only drive one classic car.

Scope of services
Any and all services shall be invoiced in Swiss francs. The quoted prices are inclusive of the Swiss value-added tax of 7.7%. Our VAT number is CHE-133.734.523 (BASERU Immo AG, Lucerne). We do not charge any surcharges for Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays according to the Canton of Lucerne or for night trips.

Prices
The quoted prices shall be deemed to be all-in prices. Unless otherwise defined and confirmed in writing, the following services are included in the round trips: basic lump sum, kilometre allowance, petrol, driver, ferry fees for the route Beckenried-Gersau / Gersau-Beckenried for our vehicle, the driver and the passengers, one 0.5 litre bottle of natural mineral water per passenger. Any further consumptions, restaurant visits, overnight stays at hotels, etc. are not included in the price.

Journey time
The given journey times shall be deemed to be approximate guidelines. They depend on traffic, weather and photo stops. We enjoy the journey together with our customers, even if it takes a little longer - we do not charge anything extra.

8. Place of Jurisdiction

The place of jurisdiction for any and all claims arising from the concluded Agreement shall be the legal domicile of the company Oldie-Chauffeur c/o BASERU Immo AG. Swiss law shall apply.
